So its been weeks since my last wedding-based-blog, which is truly appalling 'blog etiquette' and bad practise.
So in the last month (and before that) lots has happened and there are many items to address.
Firstly we had our meeting with the registrar and gave our notice of marriage, got a lovely instruction book on the service showing what needs to be included/what we can include ourselves etc.
Next, Suits. We went and got fitted up, picked the suit and paid, need to get all the other groomsmen to go down between now and the wedding to get measured up next :D So Andrew choose the light grey suit with matching grey waistcoat and with a tailcoat (which was great - I left the decision up to him but I thought the tailcoats had a lovely sense of 'occasion' where as the standard suit jacket looked just like that, just a suit!) Plain white shirt, with purple self-tie (Andrew drew the line at the 'rouched' tie!) And purple hankie! Took along the converse to try on with and they will have one of the purple buttonholes I showed in my last blog.
The shirt does need cufflinks, which was not something we had considered, I have since been diligently trawling through ebay, amazon, etsy, notontheshighstreet etc. in search of inspiration...posted some of my favourite on my pinterest wedding board:

Suits are applicable to 6 Men:
The Groom - Andrew Sewell
The Best Man - Robert Walker
The 1st Usher - Mike Sewell
The 2nd Usher - Ian Wheatley
Father of the Bride - Garry Parsons
Father of the Groom - Richard Sewell
It is a very British ideology that it is vulgar to talk money, however it dawned on me that we spent a hell of a lot more on the 6 men than on the 2 bridesmaids - I'm sure this is not the 'norm' for weddings. And I feel almost guilty for not spending more on the ladies in my bridal party, especially my mum, who as mother of the bride gets left out of most of the titles, outfits and procedures! Seems rather unfair to me. (I will offer to get my mummy's dress or shoes or hat to try and rectify the balance.)
The most expensive part of my outfit (And I'm The Bride!) was actually my underwear for the day! and didn't cost near as much as we've spent on the men! Ha Ha - this truly makes me giggle.
Anyway I really hope that the men in the bridal party appreciate the cost for us to dress them,
Suit hire, Purple Hi-Top Converse, cost of cufflinks (when we choose some) and the buttonholes (which I haven't priced to be honest)
As for the bridesmaids, I have a sneak peak of my sister, and bridesmaid Katy Parsons trying on the outfit...
I did have a picci of my maid of honor, Helen Sewell trying hers on to but I seem to have lost it from my phone :(
Although the bridemaids outfits cost less, I have bought more for them.
Purple wrap-around 'Pin Up' style dress, White 'Rockabilly' Underskirt, Matching white frill vest, White Lo-Top Converse, White frill top ankle socks (not shown in pic) White hair bow (not shown in pic) button bouquets (hand made and I have not priced them up either) and will be paying for them to get their hair done on the day too.
We also ordered sweetie bags and sweets which we will be using as wedding favours and as name places (with peoples names on the gift tags on the bags) I rustled together a quick practise one (from which Katy kindly 'tested' the sweets inside for me!)
We also visited the lovely Kay Walker who has very generously offered to make the wedding cake for us as a wedding gift. We talked cake and caught up, it was lush. We have decided on the 3 flavours of cake which with be simply decorated in ribbon, lace and (hopefully) some buttons too! I cannot wait to see what it will look like!
Well, that's about us updated for now!
x
